The Sorcerer’s Stone

Just finished rereading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and surprisingly, I feel like the movie did the book justice.  Other than a few things being changed or left out, which were not important to the plot or any backstory, I am pleased with the movie’s interpretation.  So sorry to be a bore, but I don’t have much to comment on between the book and movie.  There were some interesting things that I found in the book that, without knowing the final outcome of the series, would have gone unnoticed.  If you haven’t read all the books, seen the movies, or been hiding under rock and don’t know how Harry Potter ends, then you should probably stop reading here.

The One Food I Can’t Live Without

Macaroni and cheese, chicken nugs, chocolate, No Frill Grill funky chicken salads, Moes.  There are many foods that I would be terrified to cut out of my college life diet, but the one edible delight that I would never be able to live without is string cheese.  I don’t know what it is about string cheese, but I will have string cheese withdrawals if I do not get one of these delicious Polly-O snacks in my system several times a week.  It is my go-to food.  My comfort food.  Something that never lets me down.

I wish I knew how they made string cheese.  There is something magical and exciting about pulling off a piece.  Probably because normal cheese doesn’t do this.  The twisty kind (cheddar and mozzarella) is especially fun because it twirls.

Coincidentally, my kitty, Mittens, also has an obsession with string cheese.  Baby can hear me tearing one open from the opposite side of the house.  I won’t even be able to make it to the couch without her pawing at me to get her teeth on a bite. If I’m in a sharing mood (or my mother has purchased the Costco sized pack) I’ll give in to her big, sad baby eyes and give her a piece.  She loves it more than catnip.

So string cheese gods, thank you.  You have created a food that I seriously cannot imagine not having in my life.  A thank you also needs to go out to Joanne for purchasing the Costco pack of string cheese and sharing her fortune with the apartment.  I think I need to do something productive now.

From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe. She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.

“After all this time?”

“Always,” said Snape.

My New Project

Someone once told me that if I created a blog with everything wrong in the Harry Potter movies that she would no longer be my friend.  Well, I’ve thought about it, and I’m going to do it.  Be prepared for all of the fallacies in movies 1-8, especially 8.  I think that I will reread the books, watch the movie once I’m done, and then write everything.

PS.  Not doing this for Twilight because Twilight sucks.
